Using Macrame Inspired Design Elements

What’s your design vision for your Texas Hill Country wedding?  We ask that question to all of our brides and prospective couples when they come and tour Gruene Estate.  Therefore, In the last few years we have seen a wedding trend gaining popularity. Bride’s desire to have an authentic Texas Hill Country Wedding, so we dig a little deeper, and they almost always describe elements of a boho wedding.  Their vision is a wedding ceremony and reception with a soft and romantic feel, earthy and inspired by nature and the beautiful outdoors.  As New Braunfels’ premier wedding venue, Gruene Estate checks all of those boxes.  While there are many elements to a boho wedding, macramé is an essential part of boho décor.  Brides use macrame to give a space a softer, authentic and earthy atmosphere.

Burlaps Out

Macramé utilized in many different spaces, and the most popular choice at Gruene Estate, is macramé as table runners.  Gruene Estate’s hand made wooden farm tables bring a touch of rustic and tons of character to your event and wedding design esthetic.  Therefore, when you are designing decor spaces that you really want to pop and stand out, think about the space in layers. Use materials that create contrast with each other.  For this reason, macramé is very popular at Gruene Estate.  The white organic knotted look and whimsical feel of macramé contrasting with the rough and unpolished look of antique farm tables creates that perfect mood and authenticity for your wedding day.

Macrame and Head Tables

As we mentioned early last week on our social media channels, head tables are a great way for a couple to stand out among the crowd. Make yourselves the center of attention. Traditionally, head tables have some sort of unique design or décor element.  This usually takes the shape of a “Mr. and Mrs.” sign, or some other type of décor piece designating the special seating area.  Macramé is a great option for this unique wedding reception tradition of a head table. Ditch the traditional décor signs and do something unexpected and unique using Macramé.  This is a fabulous way to make this seating area stand out further, and capitalize on those fine details that really make a head table pop.

Dreams Come True

Like most girls, our wedding day is something that we have been dreaming about all our lives.  We have all visualized that perfect day with the man of our dreams.  One common element of boho décor is the use of traditional dream catchers.  These have been popping up at festival weddings and bohemian styled wedding celebrations.  Dream catchers are a traditional Native American handcraft, and are said to snare bad dreams and filter in good thoughts when you are awake.  This makes them the perfect décor choice for a day that is filled with happiness, hope and good vibes.

Wedding trends have evolved and changed over the years, macrame and bohemian wedding décor have made their way back into style.  Macrame is an authentic and versatile wedding décor material that adds texture and unique design elements to a wedding reception and event space.  Use macrame to capture that earthy whimsical feel and create a wedding atmosphere that your friends and family will never forget!
