Gruene Estate is excited to announce the addition of two new properties to our lineup of historic homes that are being offered as rentals for the first time.  This last spring, we acquired two buildings that were in disrepair in downtown New Braunfels.  One of the structures, constructed in 1845, was intially thought to be a tear down.  The second building is a turn of the century brick home that needed a major face lift.  Both properties have been fully restored, and they are now the crown jewels of downtown New Braunfels vacation rentals.  Both properties are just a block and a half from the world famous Comal River Tube Chute.

Bult in 1845, our historic Telegraph rental is a truly unique property.  Covered in asbestos, she scheduled to demolished.  As we began to remove the asbestos during demolition, we revealed a true prize.  Original fachwerk walls and cedar timers were perfectly preserved.  Fachwerk was the traditional building style that German immigrants brought with them from Europe.  You can actually see the original grass molded into the limestone/mud mixture that has been in the walls for the last 170 years.  This building is historicly significant to New Braunfels, because it was the first telegraph office in the city.  Currently, it is in the process of being placed on the Texas Register of Historic places.

This lovely rental has two units that can sleep four people each.  The units are available together or seperately.  The layout is one bedroom with a queen bed and twin trundle bed in the living room.  It is perfect for families or couples.

The other property, which is located on the same lot, is a Victorian brick home built in 1900.  It belonged to the Ludwig family that was one of the original founding families of New Braunfels.  This three bedroom two bath home, was important to New Braunfels because the Ludwig family owns and still operates the oldest leather shop in New Braunfels.  This historic home is also in the process of being accepted as a Texas Historic Landmark.  It is ideal for couples and families that want easy access to the Comal River and downtown New Braunfels.
