Well no doubt 2020 was tough on everybody. The weddings this Fall at Gruene Estate feel like there’s brighter times ahead for everyone. At least here in Texas, venues, restaurants, and other public spaces are open. Since many 2020 weddings never really happened, wedding trends that would normally dissipate are sticking around! Here are a few Texas wedding trends that we are continuing to see into 2021.

Let’s Celebrate

Many couples, are having two weddings. Lots of brides married in their back yards in small gatherings during the pandemic. Brides and grooms still want to celebrate their big day, so there is a major emphasis on bigger weddings with extended family and lots of extra vendors.

Gruene Estate is the ideal location for a large Texas wedding. We are New Braunfels’ only open air wedding venue that is also fully covered from the elements. Our open air wedding pavilion and original open air chapel allow you to experience an authentic Texas Hill Country wedding with plenty of room for guests to spread out and enjoy the party! Bigger weddings mean more wedding vendors! Brides are adding unique vendors to the mix: doughnut desert bar, food trucks parked along the pavilion, photo booths, and much more! Larger guest count and over the top are on the rise!

Outdoor Spaces

There is a profound shift toward utilizing outdoor spaces for the obvious reasons. As we mentioned above, Gruene Estate is New Braunfels and Gruene’s only open air wedding venue. Guest are able to move freely between our covered pavilion and covered wedding chapel to outdoor open spaces. Overlooking 15 acres of rolling hay fields, we receive a nice breeze throughout the day. Ample patio space and our open bar layout with outdoor drink rail are the ideal place for wedding guest to enjoy the evening. Our three antique chandeliers hang from a large tree over our rock patio. This is that picture perfect for location for your boho wedding lounge and furniture setup. It is a versatile space and we have seen Gruene Estate brides use it for their cake table, desert bar, cigar rolling table, wedding photo booth and so much more! The outdoors are in!!!

Loving Those Details!

Design decisions with impactful meaning are shining through in all our weddings. This means an increase in floral installations, greenery installation, unique and cute invitations and of course diverse vendors. In other areas of the country, weddings are getting smaller with fewer friends and families because Covid restrictions are tight. Here in New Braunfels our wedding guest numbers are increasing on a weekly basis. New Braunfels is a wedding and tourist destination both locally and nationally. Both rivers are open along with all bars and restaurants. tourist are here and they are ready to party. Design decisions are reflecting the enthusiasm seen out and about in town. Big weddings are back and they are better then ever!

Food Truck Fancy

Food trucks are a trend from 2020 that we will continue to see in 2021 weddings. Fortunately, Gruene Estate is in an ideal location for our brides and grooms to enjoy some of the best food trucks in the state. Austin and San Antonio have tons of food trucks that are picture perfect for weddings. The advantage to food trucks is that your guests can choose to graze and order as they please. Typically food trucks offer a twist or some sort of culinary fusion that will be unique to what your wedding guest aren’t use to.

Choose food that reflects your personality as a couple. Think about your favorite food, travel experiences, and things you like to cook at home. In addition, food truck food is often served in smaller single use portions and serving ware to create a Covid safe dining experience.

The 2021 spring wedding season is off to a great start in Texas. 2020 wedding trends will carry over to 2021 to create some amazing parties and weddings for our Texas brides.
