Carmen and Vance, A Texas Hill Country Wedding

Y’all, we’re so glad to have been able to work with Carmen and Vance. They had an incredibly fun wedding with lots of personal touches. Their goal was simple, they wanted a laid back and rustic yet elegant wedding. A celebration that represented where they’re from and how they live their lives. It was such a pleasure working with this amazing couple and we loved being part of it from the start.
When we were planning the wedding we constantly heard that weddings are basically a party for everyone else, not so much for ourselves. Which in someway it can be. We made it our mission to make our wedding day about us. About our love, our love story, and about us having a beautiful night together with our family and friends being there.
We are from Somerset Texas. It is a tiny town with the population of 1,400, a very small country town on the outskirts of San Antonio. We love being in the country and outdoors and have visited Gruene many times. It has become our favorite town to getaway to, with the same feel as back home. We always imagined getting married somewhere outdoors near Gruene. Gruene Estate ended up being the perfect venue.
We are really into supporting local craft breweries. Not a lot of our friends and family are familiar with craft breweries, so we we served some craft beers we thought they might enjoy. For our dessert, we served pan dulce. Growing up in a hispanic culture we always had pan dulce with coffee. Since our wedding was a destination event we thought pan dulces and coffee would be a nice touch for guest that had to drive home after the event.
My mom gave me my grandmothers wedding ring so I had it pinned on my bouquet to have with me.
My ring was custom made by Medlar Jewelry in San Antonio. My ring is not a traditional diamond, it is a Morganite gem stone. Morganite is said to be healing to the soul and is a high vibrational, universal stone of uncoditional love. My husband, Vance, chose this specifically for me, and it means the world to me. His ring was purchased from Staghead designs which he was able to custom design himself. His is a whiskey barrel lined titanium ring with a granite inlay. Titanium is the hardest metal and granite is one of the hardest stones. This is a metaphor for our relationship, strong and not easily broken.
My hair was done by Charish the Day Boutique. They are the sweetest ladies! From day one, they were so patient, kind and sweet. I was so impressed with the final product. My makeup was done by Jax Studio San Antonio – Kim is amazing! Everything was custom done from start to finish I couldn’t have been happier with the fisnished product.
