Jessica and Joey's Boho Chic Gruene Estate Wedding

Where do we even start with Joseph and Jessica's spring wedding?  Inspired by natural bohemian vibes, greenery and the Texas Hill Country, their wedding was stunningly sublime!  A dusty blue, green and copper colored palette came together perfectly for their big day at Gruene Estate.  Gruene Estate's hand made wooden farm tables were adorned with greenery and deer antlers to create a subtle balance of rustic chic bliss.  The whole day was so sweet, and so is their story!

Joey crashed a house party dressed like cop.  Ironically, Jessica was dressed like a cop too, "we met on October 19th 2012, Joey crashed my Halloween party that my roommates and I were throwing at our apartment in San Marcos! He turned out to be a friend of a friend of a friend and we hit it off immediately, after I was done teasing him about crashing my party dressed like a cop (which I was too). Ironically the real cops showed up and shut down our party (we have the ticket framed in our house- haha), and Joey stayed to help me clear out the place out and clean up. We've been pretty inseparable ever since."

Using greenery to enhance the natural beauty of Gruene Estate's open air chapel, a hanging halo floral installation by RemiI+Gold set the tone for a romantic boho chic ceremony.

Jessica and her brides maids in matching floral satin robes in Gruene Estate's historic main house.   One of Jessica and Joeys favorite memories of the day, "We both really enjoyed spending the day with our wedding parties, we did not do a first look, so the anticipation built all day up to that unbeatable moment when the church doors open and we get to see each other for the first time. Ringing the bell on the way out and hugging everyone outside the church was blissful. The rest of the night is a blur of smiles and laughs, we danced the night away. The pictures on the dance floor speak for themselves, those are moments with my friends and family I will definitely never forget!"

Jessica wore these adorable embroidered floral accented shoes.  She says, "they are very "ME" with the embroidered floral accents. They were comfortable, perfect for dancing all night (very important) and were still super feminine. They fit my style and vibe perfectly."

Jessica's ring is an oval cut diamond set in a traditional gold band custom designed by Designer Jewels in Houston, and her wedding band is designed by Eliza Page in Austin.  In a personal touch with family meaning and sentimental value, Joey is wearing his late granfather's band that was passed down to him.

Jessica and Joey's advice for future couples is, "It's your day, do it your way. Don't feel too constrained by traditions unless they are important to you. Don't be afraid to show your creativity, your personalty and your quirky side. Have fun with it!"

Happily Ever After!

Ronnie and Kamady, a Elegant DIY Gruene Texas Wedding

Kamady and Ronnie have such fun and outgoing personalities.  This is one of those weddings, where we feel like we made a lifetime friendship!  From Michigan, they chose Gruene Estate as a destination wedding venue.  With help from family and friends and some well placed top tier vendors, they had a beautiful, elegant, and rustic D.I.Y. wedding.  A perfect balance of romance and Hill Country charm.  They used the natural beauty of Gruene Estate and more formal wardrobes to achieve the perfect look!

Beer burros, provided by Hill Country Events, are a perfect addition to an event.  Dressed in floral wreaths and equipped with saddle bags full of cold beverages, they wonder through the event during cocktail hour.  They are always major hit with guest and provide a great photo op for the bride and groom.

Continueing with the current trend of slightly different brides maids dresses all in the same color pattern, Kamady's brides maids are in garnet red full length gowns.  The color scheme is well balanced, allowing the bride to stand out and be front and center.

Kamady's V neck, trumpet cut lace gown with full length train is simply smashing!  The elegance and beauty of this gown is not to be understated.  Wardrobe options set the tone for a wedding. An open air setting gives brides and grooms the option to go casual or for a more formal look.  This dress is well coordinated to bring the right amount of elegance which blends with the natural beauty and farm like setting of Gruene Estate.

A Little Pre-Wedding Game Plan

Wedding Day Planning

As an engaged bride- or groom-to-be, the big day is going to be here before you know it. You have the perfect venue picked out, your menu arranged, and your bridal party chosen. However, have you thought about all of the day-of details? Time is going to fly before walking down the aisle, so it’s important to ensure you’re prepared with all of the items you might need - applicable to both the bride and the groom!

For the groom

For the groom

Make sure you everything you need to complete your wardrobe, including accessories. Whether it’s a matching tie, pocket square or lapel pin, it’s important to coordinate with your bride and/or the rest of the bridal party.

Grooming products are always a good idea, whether it’s shaving that beard you’ve been growing out for months or simply reshaping. It could also come in helpful for fellow groomsmen that need a quick touch up to look their best.

Brides aren’t the only ones that need to have a good hair day for their wedding; grooms should too. Whether it’s a small dab of hair gel or some hairspray, be prepared with any hair products you might need.

Freshen up before saying “I do” with some mouthwash, floss, mints or even a travel toothbrush and toothpaste. It seems obvious, but make sure you don’t forget deodorant or your cologne. It can be easy to forget the essentials in all of the excitement.

Brides and grooms often give each other a small gift the morning of their wedding. It can be as simple as a heartfelt letter or as elaborate as a diamond necklace for her to wear down the aisle. Coordinate with your wife-to-be beforehand, so you can get each other a gift of equal value.

For the bride

For the bride

As brides get ready to walk down the aisle, one of the biggest “to-dos” is putting on the wedding gown. Make sure your gown fits flawlessly and ensure that you have the support you need for a long night of dancing by getting a a comfortable strapless bra option.  It’s also a good idea to wear the bra to your dress fittings beforehand for a flawless fit, since your seamstress or tailor will likely measure you down to the centimeter.

Just as with the groom, brides want their hair to look beautiful. Whether you’re doing an updo or wearing your hair down, have extra hair pins, a hair tie and a large clip on hand, especially for keeping hair out of your face as you get your makeup done.

Some makeup extras that you might want to include are some clear brow gel, finishing powder, setting spray and concealer. Your everyday makeup look might not hold up to the sweat and happy tears of your wedding. These items will help make sure everything stays in place down the aisle and onto the dancefloor.

Wardrobe malfunctions can happen, and often do. However, it’s nothing that a small sewing kit and wardrobe tape can’t fix. The wedding dress bustle is often something that goes, since a small thread typically holds up the entire train. With a needle and thread on hand if needed, you can be more relaxed as you tie up your dress after your ceremony.

Whether heading straight off to your honeymoon, going back to the hotel suite or heading home together, make sure you can comfortably transition out of your wedding reception into spending time with your new husband or wife. Pack a small bag with a change of clothes, makeup remover wipes and flip flops or flats. If you are going right to your honeymoon, make sure you have your license, passport and other necessities ready to go.

Bride and groom essentials are going to vary for everyone, and what’s on this list might not cover everything that you need as you prepare to walk down the aisle. Think ahead, give yourself time to get ready, and don’t be afraid to ask for help from those around you. After all, everyone is there to help you celebrate your big day.

Fun, easy, & relaxing.

Texas country charm is already built in.
