TBT - Remember That Time Whiskey Myers Front Man Tied The Knot at Gruene Estate?

In case your not following the country music scene, there is a band that is literally and figuratively making a lot of noise right now.  That band is Whiskey Myers, and with the release of their latest self titled album, they are blowing up the charts and gaining popularity in a meteoric way.  This latest release debuted number 1 on the Country Billboard Charts.  This summer they opened for Mic Jaeger and The Rolling Stones, and they are currently on tour selling out major arenas and venues across the country.  Their wedding was featured in People Magazine, and we are so glad that we were a part of it!  The best part about it all, is that Haley and Cody were such nice down to earth people.

Haley is a stunning bride, and she looked beautiful in her gown!  During the ceremony, she wore a gown by Morilee that featured diamanté beaded appliqués on crystallized Alençon lace with a wide scalloped hemline and open back!  The gown was simply gorgeous!

In a nod to the movie Talladega Nights, guest enjoyed a fajita bar complete with a nacho cheese fountain, per Cody's request.

Showing both there traditional and playful sides, there were two cakes on display.  Haley's featured a traditional almond cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing.  Cody went with a Dallas Cowboy themed cake to hi-light his devotion to America's team. Both of the cakes were created by Pennington's Cakes in San Marcos.

One of Haley's favorite moments was the first look.  This is a trend that we see gaining popularity.  It gives the couple a few moments alone, before the wedding and receptions start.  In Haley's own words, it was “magical,” “just to have a moment to ourselves right before the ceremony,” adding, “of course being pronounced husband and wife in front of our closest friends and family” was also memorable.

Jimmy and Jenna's Gruene Estate Wedding - Fall Weddings In New Braunfels

This fall has been so amazing here at Gruene Estate!  The weather has been very mild, crisp, and cool.  This time of year really is magical: football, family, friends, and of course gorgeous weddings.  We put together this short three minute video of Jimmy and Jenna's wedding from two weeks ago.  We are not professional wedding videographers, so it's more like a hi-light/behind the scenes peak at a real wedding.

Jenna and Jimmy are such a sweet couple.  I actually did their tour and remember walking them through the property.  I was struck by how kind and sweet they both are.  They met in San Antonio through church and their ceremony had a very spiritual feel to it.  One unique aspect of the event, was that they had a traditional Thai tea ceremony before the wedding.  Jimmy is Thai, and honoring his families heritage and traditions was very important.  Their wedding had lots of unique details and vendors.  Shastagram Photobooth, a vintage 1966 Shasta Trailer, was in attendance.  Ears With Beers  brought their two beer burros, Carey and Stacy, they are always a hit.  If your new to the wedding scene in New Braunfels and Central Texas, then you might not know that live animals at weddings is a very chic wedding add-on.  Of course at Gruene Estate, we have plenty of deer, two paint horses, and two longhorns that are always on the property.  That being said, llamas, donkeys and even elephants are all additions that can be added to an event.  They are huge hit, guests love them, and they are a great way to elevate and event. Ears With beers is a duo of donkeys that come to the event wearing saddle bags full of cold beers and floral wreaths.  They mingle with guests during cocktail hour and people are able to grab drinks out of the donkeys saddle bags.  This event had so many beautiful details and it was truly special.

Most importantly, in the video, you can see that Jimmy and Jenna are truly loved.  They are surrounded by so many friend and family.  At Gruene Estate, we are so honored that they chose to have their wedding with us and that we could be part of their special day.  We wish you guys the best of luck and hope to see ya'll again soon!

Capturing That Perfect Photo - Five Photography Tips For Your Wedding Day

Do you want to capture that perfect photo on your wedding day?  There is so much happening the day of, and it is very important to capture the special moments with well timed photography. These memories will last a life time.
This is one the biggest regrets that my husband and I have from our wedding day.  Twelve years later, we have very few photos that show the love and intimacy of such a special day.  We made many mistakes when planning our wedding.  Fortunately, none of them were life or death, but I wish that someone would have given us a little more guidance in the process.  Our photographer was a friend, or what we commonly refer to in the wedding industry as a friendor.  We simply trusted that she would get those moments on film for us, and we failed to pre-plan accordingly. Not pre-planning with our photographer, and clearly laying out our expectations is a huge regret!  After our own failure and a decade of experience in the wedding industry as managers of Gruene Estate, we are happy to share with you   a few tips that will help you navigate those wedding day photo pitfalls!

1. Schedule Plenty of Time For Photos
Make sure that you have set aside enough time in the schedule, so that you and your husband have plenty of time for both couple and family photos.  Doing a first look, is a great way to make sure that you capture personal photos of just you and him, before you are surrounded by friends and family.  This allows you to maximize your shooting time at the venue!

2. Create a Mood Board
Every bride is different.  Trying to articulate your style in words is often very difficult to do, and many times there is a disconnect between the images in our heads and the final product.  Creating a mood board in Pinterest many months before your event is a great way to share your vision with your photographer, venue, and coordinator.

3.  Include a Private Session
While it's fun to have all of your friends and family at the event, make sure you include a few moments in the time line for a sneak away session.  This can be done while the reception is happening, or when the guests leave the facility to line up for the sparkler exit.  These moments are what your wedding is all about, and capturing the romance of just you and your husband in an private moment is so romantic!

4.  Use Smoke Bombs
It's pretty simple, they just look really cool and they add an unique aesthetic to an otherwise traditional photo. Because they come in any color, couples can be creative and add some color pop to their photos!
5.  Golden Light
When planning your schedule for the day, account for the shooting times that create the best light.  Golden light happens as the sun starts to set.  The light becomes warmer and softer and creates a golden glow that is so beautiful.  Typically it lasts about 30 minutes and makes for some amazing photos!  By checking sunset schedules for your day, and planning accordingly, you can take advantage of every last second.  It happens very quickly, so pre-plan and have your shot locations pre-determined

Texas is such a unique and amazing place!  We literally have it all, deserts, mountains, beaches, rivers, rolling hills, and sparkling coast lines.  There's a little something for everybody.  Not only does she has a lot to offer the adventure seeker, but she also happens to be the perfect place to have a wedding.  With so many options, it's important that you select a wedding venue that's perfect for you and your love!  Taking a few important things into consideration, while doing your research will help you narrow down your list of top choices.  Personal research is critical, so take your time, have some friends over, mix up some mimosas, and do some dreaming.  Here's a few tips from Gruene Estate that will help you choose the right venue to say "I Do"!

1.  Set Your Budget

Before you do anything, make sure you have a realistic budget and expectations when you start looking at venues.  At Gruene Estate, we have lots of different options to accommodate a wide range of budgets.  From daily rentals to full weekend rentals with overnight on site accommodations, we can do it all.  Not only do our full wedding packages include a professional wedding coordinator, but we also have a large inventory of in-house decor that is available for you to choose from at no extra charge.  In addition, we are also unveiling our new "micro wedding" packages.  These are smaller weddings with 5-50 guests.  They contain the traditional elements of a normal wedding but on a smaller scale, a shorter rental time, and at a lower price.  This is a great advantage for people working on a tight budget,  because it allows you to spend more on each guests and have a unique and intimate wedding experience.

2.  Consider The Location

Location is critical to having an successful event.  Gruene Estate is ideally located in the best part of Texas.  New Braunfels and Gruene are the gateway to the Texas Hill Country.  Sparkling rivers lined with cypress trees, dance halls that feel like time machines, and a live music scene that rivals the best that Austin and Nashville have to offer, we simply have something for everybody.  Many of the other wedding venues in the area are located way outside of town, down dark country roads that are difficult for guest to navigate.  Gruene Estate is located inside of town on 17 secluded acres complete with hay fields, longhorns, deer, and paint horses.  It feels like you are out in the country, but your really in the middle of it all.  Uber and Lyft give your guests easy transportation options from their hotels in downtown New Braunfels and Gruene to the venue.

3.  Make Sure The Venue Fits Your Vibe

After almost a decade in the wedding business, we have come to realize that there are many different wedding styles.  Some brides are looking for a rustic laid back venue, while others are more formal.  Our mission when we created Gruene Estate was to step outside the norm of prefab buildings and square or barn style architecture.  We wanted to create a venue that has soul and authenticity. Enhancing the historic nature and natural beauty of the original Gruene Family farm, we are a venue that is beautiful all by itself with out adding any decorations.  Many times on tours, couples will comment that our chapel and pavilion doesn't need any additional decor.  That's the best compliment we can think of!  Our venue is perfect, because it really can be both laid back or formal.   It's really up to you to decide.
